Printing Services San Francisco – Who does Same Day Printing?

Walk down a typical street in any major city, like San Francisco, and you’ll see posters hanging all over the place; in shop windows, on utility poles, buses, and benches.

Walk into a shopping centre or public building and you’ll be sure to find a variety of posters telling you what to buy or where to go.

Posters have long been an eye catching way for advertisers to get their message across. SFBayPosters.com understands that since our inception! But until recently, poster printing has also been somewhat expensive.

Prior to the development of digital printing technology, the most common method for poster printing was lithography.

How to make money as a photographer? In last two episodes we discussed email marketing and web hosting companies for photography business.

What are we gonna be talking about in today's episode? That's right.

It's money Monday, episode number 3.

My name is Zdenka Darula.

I work as aphotographer for many, many, many years.

I'm a farmer model and a few otherthings.

Do you know the feeling when you have a conversation with somebody.

It'sgoing great, you're talking talking talking and suddenly the person asks you.

Do you have a business card? Well, either you forgot one or you didn't have one oryou simply didn't even make one yet.

Do photographers even need business cardsthese days? Yes, absolutely and I have them everywhere.

I have them in my wallet, in my purse, in my camera bag on the shelf, even in thecar, everywhere.

Well before I introduce you to online printing companies, let meget through all the tips first.

Should you go with one-page, foldable, doubleside, one side, small or big? I know it can be sometimes tricky todesign business cards.

Well I decided to go with all my contact information onone side and my best photos on the back of the cart right here.

It's basically amini portfolio on the go.

Usually, when I'm talking to somebody and I'm givingthem the business card I first look at my contact they flip over and once theyhave the visual they see the photos, they usually start asking me more questionson the type of services I'm doing, the type of photography I'm offering, thensometimes we talk about pricing as well, all the packages and it gives medefinitely better chance to make a sale.

And you can totally do what I'm doing, oryou don't have to.

It's totally up to you.

For me I rather have this mini portfolioon the back, rather than just contact information upfront and maybe just myphoto.

I have seen many business cards with a very busy background and you knowit is very distracting from the font.

I don't suggest it.

Keep it very simple.

Onecolor is actually the best as a background.

Then when it comes to font, you know a lot of people are wearing glasses.

If you keep the fonts very small, they're not gonna be able to read it, so and I actually my font is pretty smallas well.

So keep it big and bold.

All they want to see isyour phone number, email address and website address.

That's all they want.

Simply said, don't concentrate on a very difficult design.

Keep it very simple, especially when you are starting out.

Let your photos speak.

Make that contact.

Get the new clients you want.

People just really want to see your name, your email, phone number, website addresses that's what they really care about.

Once you build yourbrand, once you build your name and you're known, then you can make some very fancy business card.

One very practical advice.

Don't print too many businesscards.

I'm so guilty, guilty as charged.

I was working on trade shows so Iprinted too many.

Now I'm stuck with them.

So when you are creating your businesscards, maybe you realize that something is not working on them very well, youmight want to change photos and such and such, so just print few at thebeginning.

When you give them out, give 2, never 1.

I always smile and say, one foryou and one for your friend.

I had many referred clients to me thatway.

Also when I'm sending out packages with photos or the final products to myclients, I always make sure there are two cards, never one.

So what are currentlypopular printing companies online? vistaprint.

Lithography is an offset printing process which involves creating an image on a plate, then using that plate to transfer the image to a rubber blanket and then to the paper.

A system of water repulsion is used to protect non-printed surfaces from absorbing ink.

Lithography provides extremely crisp and clean prints especially where photographs are used as part of the image.

But the downside is cost. On a per-piece basis, Lithograph printing is cost-prohibitive for small quantities, because set-up time for the press is built into the price. Regardless of how many prints are being made, set-up costs are the same.

Printer Price

The only way to bring the per-piece price down is to order in large quantities. It’s not uncommon for printers to have minimum quantity requirements in order to justify the time and expense of press set-up.

Advances in digital printing are revolutionizing poster printing as well the entire print industry.

Layouts and images are now often designed before hand by the customer and delivered to the printer on a disc. This eliminates the need for the services of the print shop’s in-house layout department, saving time and money.

With digital there are no plates to prepare, no inks to blend, and no monitoring of presses to assure consistency.

Digital printing uses large-scale inkjet printers attached to a standard desktop computer.

A minor amount of image manipulation might be required to match the image to the printer’s format, but once that’s done it only takes a mouse click and you’re off and printing.

And modern fade-resistant inks mean a final product which rivals lithography in overall quality.

Additionally, the efficiency and speed of digital printing today result in a lower cost per piece for smaller jobs.

It virtually guarantees a consistent product throughout the run and also allows further runs be produced with no additional set-up.

For individual consumers, digital printing offers them the ability to make a poster or two for their own family gatherings, holidays, and other special occasions without ever leaving home.

Images can be created on the home computer then uploaded to the site of an online print shop. One just needs to enter payment and shipping information and then wait for his posters to arrive. It couldn’t be simpler.

There’s still plenty of room for both lithography and digital in the world of poster printing.

Each has its advantages and disadvantages depending on customer needs. Yet regardless of which process is used, one thing’s for certain: the print industry continues to evolve.
